This week was very important for Nokia — the company has shipped the 500 millionth phone! Nokia’s handsets are being produced in the manufacturing plant located in Chennai, India, and are shipped to other countries from there.
500 million is a huge number, isn’t it, ladies? It’s the 12th of the world’s population, after all!

So the shipment of 500 million phones is a very important event for Nokia, and for India, too, since there are about 8,000 people working in Nokia’s manufacturing plant in Chennai, and thanks to it the electronics manufacturing industry in India is growing.
“We have created a unique record across the world. This is not only a proud moment for us at Nokia, but a major highlight in India’s young and rising electronics manufacturing industry,” said Prakash Katama, director, Chennai factory operations, Nokia India.
Nokia celebrates this great event by presenting Nokia C3-00 phones to their 8,000 employees, among which, of course, the pink versions of the phone will find their users, too.
Besides, Nokia also has its Brand ambassador and Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan sign a Nokia C3 phone which will be auctioned off to the users via Nokia’s Website.
